SEEMA MATHEW

Seema Mathew is a self-taught artist and a two-time cancer survivor. Originating from Bangalore, India, Mathew has done most of her practice in Hong Kong, her home for the past 20 or so years.
After her final recovery from cancer treatment in 2014, she pursued her life-long dream of becoming an artist and painted full-time.
Known for her unique experimentation and the unusual effect with Chinese ink on canvas which she happened upon early in her career, she spent the next five years mastering and researching the medium.
Her work is often visually abstract however, they deal deeply with the human psyche and philosophical themes.
