Mixed media on canvas

A reconfiguration of “Venus de Milo” of the Hellenistic age, the artist compares contemporary beauty ideals with those of the past. His ‘Venus’ encompasses the dichotomies of our times: the masculine and feminine, and the ambiguity of east and west. In her serenity, she is surrounded by modern ways of movement, the mechanical chaos of labour induced by industrial advancement. The work has transformed over the course of seven years since 2016, and layers of textures and colours encompass our ever-morphing contemporary ideals.
